2nd Annual Showcase

To benefit Bennett Cancer Center Music Therapy Program
Stamford native Christine Occhino opened the Pop Music Academy just two years ago, after realizing the need for a music program of its kind. After attending Berklee College of Music and working for Columbia records, Occhino decided it was time to bring what she learned back to her hometown.

Occhino says the music academy exposes its students to all facets of the music industry, giving them the tools they need to succeed. And while the goal is music education, Occhino says teaching the students to give back is just as important. That’s why the academy is hosting its second annual showcase this weekend to benefit the Bennett Cancer Center Music Therapy Program.

The showcase will feature a live band and over 50 professional and student performers, singers, and musicians. A portion of the show’s proceeds will also provide scholarships to the Academy for underprivileged students. The Pop Music Academy Showcase will take place Saturday, January 25, at 7 p.m. at Rippowam Middle School. For tickets or more information, visit ThePopMusicAcademy.com or call 203-322-4767.
